System Description
With the emergence of new building designs, the architect gives more emphasis on the Structural Glazing System. This means no profile is visible outside the façade and the main attraction is the fixed glass to another. Wintek studied the design of the existing structural glazing system available in the market and developed its own system to enter in this new challenging market.
The new product design are described below:
- The main mullion, the transom and the opening sashes are made of extruded aluminum wherein the customer can have two finishing options:
- Anodized or Powder Coated
- With PVC profile extruded covers pigmented to different colors.
- Most of the existing system installed the insulated glass with the use of adhesive tapes, which makes our system different. We used the clipping system and hold the glass in between wherein we can ensure the glass will be in its place better than the existing system.
- The glazing and fixing system is designed with 3 way directions for easy installation. The material is corrosion resistant having 20 um of Electro zinc plating. The bolts and nuts are made from stainless steel.
- The glazing system is designed to accommodate 28 mm and having an airspace cavity of 16 mm. This is to give better insulation and isolation performance to the structural glazing system. This can also accommodate easily the heat mirror glass within the system.
- In accordance with the various functional requirements of vents / opening windows such as outward openings; Top Hung and Side Hung windows can be built in this system.
- Aside from the EPDM center sealing placed between the glazing, a silicone sealant is placed on top of it for better performance and ensuring perfect water-tightness and insulation.
Advantage of the System
- Design and Specification Flexibility; Pricing Flexibility. The Structural Glazing System offers 4 finishings as follows:
- Anodized
- Powder Coated
- Mill Finish
- PVC-U Cap Finished …….. in different Colors
- Glazing is different from the existing structural glazing. The system offers 28 mm thick insulated glass units, whereby it gives added advantage in heat and sound insulation.
- Compared to the Existing Structural Glazing Façade, the glass is not bonded to the aluminum frame but is mechanically held against the inner gaskets, thus ensuring mechanical restraint of the inner sheet.
Applications
- All Glass Facades
- Entrances
- Shop Front Glazing
- Connection Bridges / Corridors
- Staircases
- Atrium

Edge Channels
In the production of bonded insulation glass, the edge channels are integrated during secondary sealing (silicone) to ensure structural bonding. Therefore, it is important to establish the location of the mechanical restraints at the time of façade design.
